To Marcus: Marcus, i tak copy you tau. Lets just say, you gave me inspiration to blog about this as i can't stop thinking about what you posted after i read it^^
Ok back to the topic. Marcus posted sumting about people making New year resolution and when a new year comes, they forget about the previous resolution that they might not have accomplished and make new resolutions.
I personally feel that it is true. Most people including me would be very inspired to set out resolutions for themselves when new year's coming as it is said they want to change for the better. However, i doubt there's much people that really meant business when they jotted down their New Year Resolution.
Most of us would prolly be procastinating. "i would do it next month la. Still got lots of month left wat." Witout realizing it, the year is coming to an end. Then we would carry out the previous resolution for the coming year and the whole cycle starts again.
Every New Year, i always have one same resolution and that is " i want to change for the better and be a better me". I bet most people have the same resolution too rite?
Thinking back, i think the new year resolution is very VAGUE. It is easy to follow through as that sentence can mean thousand of things. For example, by cutting my hair, that is also changing for the better rite? By doing a complete make-over, that is also changing for the better and be a better me.
It is not specific. A true New Year Resolution would be one dat is detailed and had been thought of carefully. Not sumting dat we come up with in a second as everyone else has a resolution and we don't.
I am sure everyone has a resolution that they have not yet accomplished and maybe has been repeating the same thing for a few years oready. That's because some of us are not as disciplined as others(me included :P).
Would'nt that mean that setting out the New Year Resolution in the first place was meaningless? Well easier said than done rite as we all say.
Then by having a New Year Resolution just for the sake of it and not really gonna accomplish it means there is no need for us to celebrate the coming of the new year? Don't we always have a reason for celebrating stuffs? Like we celebrate a couple Anniversary to commemorate the number of years thay have been living as husband and wife together. We celebrate Mother's Day to show our gratitude towards our mother for giving birth and raising us up(same to fathers).
Then if we were to celebrate New Year which i bet alot of people will be planning to for the countdown, dun we need to have a reason to do so? May it be because we have done exceptionally well in 2008 or we are gonna REALLY quit smoking/drugs/WAR. At least sumting rite rather than celebrating because everyone else is celebrating it(like most of us) eventough we have not really done anything in 2008 that we are proud of.
I dunnoe, that's just how i feel.
After all that is said, i just wanan say that this post is random. I just felt like blogging about it and not because i am being sarcastic or wat-so-ever. Anw, have a splendid remaining Sunday and its back to work life for some and school life for others and back to doing absolutely nothing at all for muggers tomorrow :P
